STARWAVES Launches Full-Featured Dual-Standard Android SoftRadio App for DRM & DAB+ at IBC 2025
STARWAVES launches the DRM-DAB+ dual-standard version of its popular SoftRadio App for Android. This unique solution enables full-featured reception of both digital radio standards in a single app – ideal for markets where DRM and DAB+ coexist, such as South Africa, Indonesia, or Australia, or for listeners in Europe who want access to both local DAB+ services and international DRM broadcasts like Radio Romania International.
Just like the existing DRM-only version, this app version supports DRM in all broadcast bands including the AM bands (LW, MW, SW) as well as the VHF Bands I, II (FM-Band) and III – depending on the capabilities of the USB-attached tuner dongle.
The app is now available on the Google Play Store for around 13 €.

Hello, can I receive FM radio?
This app only decodes DRM and DAB+. At the moment we have no date for adding analogue FM but perhaps we will consider one day if we get more requests.
Excellent
Which SDR receivers does this new software work with? Brand and model? rtl-sdr? AirSpy R2?
Hi there, please check our Wiki, the list of receivers is there. But yes, both Airspy and RTL-SDR are supported!
I cannot find neither of the apps any longer at Google Play. (In Sweden)
Where can I find it?
/E
Please check again, it should be back by now!
These Starwaves apps (for Android) are not available from Google Play in Canada. Must be due to either geographic or device restrictions. Could you please make it available! Had a good time receiving DRM stations using the app in the past.
Sorry guys, there was a glitch in the Google store with our app but it should be back right now! Please let us know if the problem persists. Thanks for letting us know!
I have downloaded both the Starwaves DRM and the Starwaves DRM/DAB software radio app to my Samsung A41.
I am trying to use it with a SDRPlay RSP1A & Samsung A41. Get icon on the app saying ‘No receiver hardware found’ Any ideas what is wrong?
SDRPlay RSP1A works OK with SDRuno software on a laptop. Have tried two different USB connecting leads. Could it be that the Samsung A41, is not powerful enough to power the SDRPlay RSP1A?
Any ideas and help would be appreciated.
The SDRPlay RSP1A is one of our Supported Devices so it should work. Have you been lucky so far? Otherwise please send us a support request on our contact form.
